These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Pride and Prejudice Chat app and website (the “Service”), provided by Quest Portal, Inc. (“Quest Portal,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
These Terms apply only to Pride and Prejudice Chat. The Quest Portal virtual tabletop is a separate offering governed by different terms and privacy practices.
The Service and generated content
Pride and Prejudice Chat lets you interact with AI-generated interpretations of characters from Pride and Prejudice. Responses may be inaccurate, inconsistent, anachronistic, incomplete, or inappropriate. They are not statements by Jane Austen, historical figures, or real people. The Service is for entertainment and literary exploration and does not provide medical, legal, financial, mental-health, or other professional advice. Do not rely on generated content for important decisions.
Local models and downloads
The app uses Apple Foundation Models through Apple Intelligence and custom models trained or fine-tuned for the app. Model inference runs on your device, and the shipping app does not use cloud language models for chat generation.
The app checks for required local models when it starts. You authorize it to download compatible model bundles to your device and replace or update them from time to time. Model and optional voice assets may require substantial storage and network data. Once required assets are installed, ordinary chat can run locally. Internet access is still required for model or voice downloads and updates, webpage analysis you request, StoreKit transactions, and web-based support or legal pages.
We may add, update, replace, suspend, or remove models or model features for quality, safety, compatibility, or operation. Availability and performance depend on your device, operating-system version, Apple Intelligence settings, installed assets, language, locale, network, and available storage.
Your content
You are responsible for text, URLs, photos, and other material you provide. You represent that you have the rights needed to use it and that your use does not violate law or another person’s rights. You authorize the app to process your content on your device as needed to provide chats, summaries, memories, profiles, voice features, and other requested functions. Do not enter information you are not comfortable storing on your device or including in a direct request to a website you ask the app to analyze.
Acceptable use
You may not:
- Use the Service to violate law or another person’s rights.
- Attempt to bypass safety, access, purchase, or technical restrictions.
- Extract, redistribute, sell, or use model files except as permitted by law or a written license.
- Interfere with the Service, asset hosts, StoreKit operation, or another person’s access.
- Use automated means to abuse, overload, probe, scrape, or disrupt the website, download services, or support systems.
License and ownership
Subject to these Terms and applicable App Store rules, Quest Portal grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service. The app, website, original artwork, software, prompts, character configurations, custom model files, branding, and other original materials are owned by Quest Portal or its licensors and are protected by applicable law. Pride and Prejudice is a public-domain work in relevant jurisdictions; no affiliation with or endorsement by Jane Austen’s estate is claimed. These Terms do not grant you ownership of the app or model files.
Waitlist and optional donations
If you join the waitlist, you authorize us and our email provider, Kit, to send the launch communication you requested. You can unsubscribe at any time. The app may offer optional consumable donations through Apple’s StoreKit. Donations do not unlock characters or features and are not charitable contributions. Apple processes purchases under its App Store purchase and refund terms.
Third-party services
The Service may interact with Apple services, model or voice-asset hosts, Plausible, Kit, and websites you ask the app to analyze. Those parties have their own terms and privacy practices. Quest Portal is not responsible for third-party websites, content, availability, or policies.
Availability, disclaimers, and liability
We do not promise that the Service, a character, a model, or a feature will always be available, compatible, uninterrupted, or error-free. We may change, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service, subject to applicable law.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service and generated content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted operation. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Quest Portal and its affiliates, officers, employees, and licensors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, or use arising from the Service or generated content. Quest Portal’s total liability arising from the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for the Service during the twelve months before the claim or USD $25. Limits prohibited in your jurisdiction do not apply.
Changes and contact
We may update these Terms as the Service or law changes. We will update the effective date and publish the revised Terms. Continued use after revised Terms take effect means you accept them to the extent permitted by law.
